A nocturnal fossorial snake. During the day it shelters under stones, decaying logs, vegetation, in humus and soil . They are also found near paddy fields and cultivated land. Inhabits all three climatic zones. They are common in the wet and intermediate zones. Found from Southern Province, Kalutara in Western Province, North Western Province in the Kadugannawa, Peradeniya, Kundasale - Central and province of Sabaragamuwa.
